BAKU CITY TOUR

 

Our tour program begins with the Old City, or Inner City, the historical core of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The Old City is the oldest part of Baku, surrounded by well-protected walls. In 2007, the Old City had a population of about 3,000 people. In December 2000, it became the first location in Azerbaijan to be classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower (walking tour).

Next, enjoy views of Baku Boulevard, which stretches along a south-facing bay on the Caspian Sea. It traditionally begins at Freedom Square and continues west to the Old City and beyond. Since 2012, the Yeni Bulvar (New Boulevard) has extended the length to 3.75 km.

The tour continues with a visit to the Heydar Aliyev Center, a stunning example of modern architecture. Designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, the 57,500 m² building is noted for its distinctive flowing, curved style that avoids sharp angles. It runs through the city center from west to east, starting at Abdulla Shaig Street in the hilly part of the city and ending at Sabit Orujov Street near a monument to Shah Ismail Khatai in the 'Black City' area.

This beautiful town is located on top of a hill, surrounded by valleys and the majestic Caucasus Mountains.

After returning to Tbilisi, enjoy free time for shopping at East Point.

Optional: Wine tasting and a wine tour at Khareba Winery for 20 USD.

Lunch will be with a local family in Sighnaghi – Pinch of Salt. Gala dinner at the Indian restaurant Spice Garden."

Then, we will drive to Old Tbilisi and start a walking tour to discover the beauty of this ancient capital. The walking tour begins at Europe Square and includes Metehki Church, a cable car ride to Narikala Fortress, and a visit to the 'Mother of Kartli.' We will then walk down to Abano District and continue to Legvtakhevi Waterfall, where there will be free time for photos.

Enjoy additional free time for shopping at Tbilisi Mall and a visit to the Flea Market.
