ARRIVAL AT Paro from NEW DELHI / KATHMANDU / BAGDOGRA AIRPORT
Experience one of the most spectacular mountain flights of a lifetime. Flying in from the heat of the plains of India, you'll witness a series of the world’s highest peaks from the left side of the aircraft's window. If the weather permits, your pilot will announce the names of the peaks. Descending into the high mountains, you won't find any airstrip or city, but instead, you'll be treated to views of the approaching valley of Paro, with its alpine forests, quaint monasteries, temples, and farmhouses. As the plane prepares to land, you'll catch a glimpse of the fertile Paro Valley, the Paro Dzong, and the Paro Chu River. Our representative will be waiting at the airport to assist you, meet and greet, and transfer you to the capital city, Thimphu. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Thimphu capital city
When in Thimphu, be prepared for surprises. This unique capital boasts no traffic lights but instead has adopted its own version of the British-Indian colonial times traffic policemen. They can startle you and mesmerize others with their elaborate hand gestures. Sometimes, it may seem like they are signaling "stop" when it looks like "go," but don’t worry, you can observe the flow and notice their smiles as you stare at them.
Sightseeing in Thimphu includes visits to the Folk Heritage Museum, National Library, and Handicrafts Center to view traditional arts. You'll also visit the indigenous Medicine Hospital, the Painting School, and catch a glimpse of Trashichho Dzong from the roadside. Further uphill, you'll visit the Takin Zoo, where you'll find the national animal of Bhutan.
In the afternoon, visit the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa dedicated to the third king of Bhutan, and the Buddha statue. In the evening, take a walk to the main city from Clock Tower Square.

Paro valley
In the morning, drive to Paro valley and visit Paro Dzong, the National Museum housed in a round fortress called Ta Dzong, considered to be one of the best natural history museums in Asia, with a fine collection of natural and historic artifacts. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, a monastery dating back to the 7th century and one of the oldest and most sacred.
In the afternoon, visit the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, a 17th-century fortress that used to protect against invaders from Tibet. In 1951, the fort was destroyed by fire. Your last stop for the day will be at the base of the world-famous “Tigers Nest,” or popularly known as “Taktsang,” one of the most popular spiritual heritage sites. It was here that the great tantric master Guru Padma Sambhava flew in from Tibet on a tiger to bring Buddhist teachings to Bhutan. Evening is at leisure.
